Septic Tank Soakaway Design Guide

The soakaway is the most important part of the septic tank system.

Poo, wee and fat grease and sludge enter the septic tank and stay in it. Over time the fat grease and sludge builds up inside the septic tank.

The excess effluent (which is called sewage or wastewater) makes its way into the soakaway, and from there naturally soakaways away into the soil. If the soakaway becomes blocked up with fat grease and sludge it will stop working. Then the liquid will not be able to soakaway away anymore.

Once the soakaway is blocked it cannot be repaired unless you either use soakaway worms or you install a new soakaway.

Septic Tank Soakaway Design Guide

Septic Tank Soakaway Design Guide

Easy Drain is a gravel free alternative to the old traditional way of constructing septic tank soakaways.

In the past when a septic tank soakaway was constructed, a shingle or gravel bed would be put down first. Then a multitude of expensive orange pipes would-be put-on top of the shingle formed into the shape of a herringbone style shape. Then another load of shingle would be put over the pipes, then a covering of membrane.

This old way of doing septic tank soakaway has become outdated since Easy Drain was invented and introduced to the world.

All you now have to do is dig a trench, lay the pipe in the trench and cover them over with topsoil. Job done.

Not only are they easy to install, but they will save you on average around £1000 compared to the old soakaway construction. For more information on this amazing septic tank soakaway kit visit https://www.septictank.co.uk
